കേരളത്തിന്റെ 'വേശ്യാ സാംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ' ആധാരം തേടുന്നവര്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടി

മുത്തപ്പന്റെ ‘കേരളത്തിന്റെ വേശ്യാ സംസ്കാരം‘ രണ്ടാം ഭാഗത്തിനു കൂടുതല്‍ തെളിവുകളും ആധാരങ്ങളും വേണം എന്നുള്ള കമന്റുകള്‍ കാണാനിടയായി. സൌത്താഫ്രിയ്ക്കയിലെ ഒരു യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയുടെ സോഷ്യോളജി‍ പാഠപുസ്തകത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് ഞാന്‍ വായിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ തെളിവുകള്‍ താഴെ കൊടുക്കുന്നു. (പുസ്തകത്തിലെ ഈ വിവരം എനിയ്ക്കു വ്യക്തിപരമായ ഒരു situation ഉണ്ടാക്കി എന്നുള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് ഇത് ഒരു പോസ്റ്റായി ഇടുന്നു). നായരുടെ സംബന്ധത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും തദ്വാര അവരുടേത് സാധാരണ അര്‍ത്ഥത്തിലുള്ള കുടുംബ യൂണിറ്റുകള്‍ ആയിരുന്നോ എന്നുള്ളതും ഇവിടുത്തെ ചിന്താവിഷയമായി കാണാം. ഈ സംബന്ധവ്യവസ്ഥ‍ 1792 വരെ കേരളത്തില്‍ നിലനിന്നിരുന്നു എന്നാണ് കതെലിന്‍ ഗൌ അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഈ വിവരണം എന്നെ ആദ്യമായി കാണിച്ചു തന്നത് എന്റെ മകളാണ്. അതാണ് വ്യക്തിപരമായ ഒരു situation എന്നു ഞാന്‍ മുകളില്‍ പറഞ്ഞത്. അവളുടെ കൂടെ പഠിച്ച കുട്ടികള്‍ (non-Indians) അവള്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ നിന്നാണ് എന്നറിയാമായിരുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് അതിനേകുറിച്ചുള്ള കൂടുതല്‍ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ അറിയാന്‍ അനേഷിച്ചതായിരുന്നു. ‘ദേവദാസികള്‍‘ വേശ്യകളാണോ

ചാണക്യാ വേശ്യാവൃത്തിയും ദേവദാസി പണിയും തമ്മില്‍ വ്യത്യാസം കാണണ്ട, രണ്ട് വിഭാഗത്തിന്റേയും ‘പണി‘ ഒന്നു തന്നാ. സാദാ വേശ്യ ഒളിഞ്ഞും മറഞ്ഞും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ദേവദാസികള്‍ ഭരണകൂടത്തിന്റേയും മതത്തിന്റേയും സംരക്ഷണത്തില്‍ അരങ്ങ് തകര്‍ത്തു അത്രേ ഉള്ളൂ. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ദേവദസി സമ്പ്രദായം അതിപുരാതമായ ഒരു വ്യവസ്ഥയായതിനാലും അതിന്റെ പതനം വേശ്യാവസ്ഥയിലേക്കെത്തിയതിനാ‍ലും പൊതുവെ ആളുകള്‍ ദേവദാസികള്‍=വേശ്യ എന്നു മനസിലാക്കുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ദേവദാസികളെക്കുറിച്ച് വളരെയധികം റെഫര്‍ ചെയ്തിട്ടും ചാണക്യനും ദേവദാസി=വേശ്യ എന്നു പറയുന്നതെന്താണ്‍് അന്നു സംശയിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ അറിവില്‍ ‘ദേവദാസികള്‍’ ബുദ്ധമതകാലത്തെ ദേവ ദാസികളായി ജീവിക്കാന്‍ സ്വയം തയ്യാറായവരാണ്‍്. ബുദ്ധമതത്തിന്റെ ദേവസങ്കല്പവും ബ്രാഹ്മണമത ദൈവ സങ്കല്പവും രണ്ടാണെന്ന് ഞാന്‍ പ്രത്യേകിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടല്ലോ. ബുദ്ധവിഹാരങ്ങളെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റി സമൂഹത്തില്‍ വളരെ മാന്യമായി,ആദര്‍ശസ്ത്രീകളായി ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നവരായിരുന്നു അവര്‍. അറിവും കലയും ഒരു പോലെ വഴങ്ങിയിരുന്നവര്‍. എന്നാല്‍ ബ്രാഹ്മണമതത്തിന്റെ ദൈവ ക്ഷേത്ര സങ്കല്പങ്ങള്‍ക്കനുസരിച്ച് ദേവദാസി സമ്പ്രദായത്തിന് അപചയം സംഭവിക്കുകയാണ്‍് ഉ...
